What are travertine lamps?

Travertine lamps have a shade, base or cover made of natural travertine. This stone forms from mineral deposits in spring water and has characteristic pores, layered patterns and warm sandy colour. It provides subdued, warm light and a matt, natural appearance.

We often combine travertine with walnut wood, metal and glass. Each element is cut from natural stone, so the arrangement of pores and layers never repeats.

Travertine shades: beige, yellow, white, black

Travertine comes in several shades, each with a different effect in a room. Beige is the most versatile, yellow warms it, white feels calm and black creates contrast. Most of our travertine models are beige.

How to recognise natural travertine

  • Pores and small surface recesses vary in size and arrangement.
  • The layered pattern follows a different path on every element.
  • The stone feels cool and is noticeably heavier than plastic.
  • Parts of one lamp may differ slightly in shade. This is a feature of the stone.

How to choose travertine lighting for your room

Travertine feels at home with natural materials: wood, linen and ceramics. Pendants or chandeliers light the dining table, sconces and table lamps provide warmth in the evening, while ceiling lights suit lower rooms.

Living room

Travertine sconces and a table lamp provide evening light; a chandelier or ceiling light provides general lighting.

Dining room and kitchen

Travertine globes and cylinders above a table or in a row above an island. The shade bottom usually hangs 75-90 cm above the top.

Bedroom

Sconces or table lamps on both sides of the bed, with a ceiling light above. Beige and white calm the room.

Hall and hallway

Evenly spaced sconces or several ceiling lights. The porous texture looks good in side light.

Rules of thumb in numbers

  • × 10Chandelier or ceiling light diameter in cm: room length plus width in metres, multiplied by 10.
  • 75-90 cmGap between the table top and the bottom of the pendant.
  • 210 cmMinimum lamp clearance above the floor in walkways.
  • 2700-3000 KWarm light that brings out the stone’s sandy tones.

Travertine, alabaster or marble?

All three are natural stones, but each interacts with light differently.

Travertine
Porous stone in earthy tones. It transmits less light than alabaster: the lamp shines down and around the stone, while travertine shows its texture. The calmest, most natural-looking of the three.
Alabaster
Transmits light through the whole shade. A warm, soft glow with veins visible when lit. Alabaster lamps
Marble
Dense and hard, marble transmits less light than alabaster. Thin shades let light through and reveal contrasting veins; thicker forms glow at the edges. Marble lamps

Which light for a travertine lamp?

Warm 2700-3000 K LED light emphasises the stone’s sandy and honey tones. Our travertine lamps use E27 and G9 sockets and integrated LED modules. Some models also suit decorative Edison-style bulbs. The light source is listed on the product page.

How to care for travertine

  • Wipe with a dry or slightly damp microfibre cloth.
  • Remove dust from pores with a soft brush.
  • Avoid vinegar, lemon juice and acidic cleaners: they dull the stone.
  • Before cleaning, switch off the lamp and let it cool.

Questions about travertine lamps

What is travertine?

Travertine is a natural stone, a limestone formed from mineral deposits in spring water. It has characteristic pores, layered patterns and a warm sandy colour.

Does travertine transmit light?

Less than alabaster. Light usually comes from under the shade, through openings or around the stone, creating subdued, warm lighting. If you want stone that glows through its whole surface, choose alabaster.

How much does a travertine lamp cost?

Sconces start from 75,12 €, pendants from 117,60 €, ceiling lights from 108,00 €. Half of all travertine models start below 220 €. Prices as of October 2026.

Which colours does travertine come in?

In our collection: beige, yellow, white and black. Most models are beige, which suits wood, linen and light walls.

Which interiors suit travertine lamps?

We describe most of our travertine lamps as japandi or minimalist, followed by modern. The stone pairs well with light wood, linen, ceramics and plants.

How do I clean a travertine lamp?

Switch off the lamp, let it cool and wipe the stone with a dry or slightly damp microfibre cloth. Remove dust from pores with a soft brush. Avoid vinegar, lemon juice and acidic cleaners, which dull the stone.

Can a travertine lamp be installed in a bathroom?

Our travertine lamps are for indoor use. Do not install them in shower or bath zones. If you plan bathroom lighting, write to us before buying and we will suggest a model.

Will the lamp look exactly like the photo?

Shape, size and fittings will match. Pores, layers and stone shade will always differ slightly because every element is cut from another piece of stone. This is a feature of natural travertine, not a defect.

How long does travertine lamp delivery take?

In-stock lamps are dispatched within 48 hours. Made-to-order models take 4-5 weeks. We also ship to other EU countries; available countries and delivery costs are shown in the basket.

Can I order another size or stone shade?

Yes. We can change the fitting size, travertine shade and metal finish. The lead time is agreed with the quote. A lamp made to your specifications cannot be returned without a reason.

What warranty do travertine lamps have?

Every lamp has a 3-year warranty, including LED light sources. Your statutory rights remain unaffected. You have 14 days to notify us of a return. Free return shipping applies only from Poland, by arrangement with our team.

Not sure which model to choose?

Tell us about the room and the ceiling height. We will suggest a model, size and finish.
