What is an alabaster table lamp?

It is a lamp with a cable and plug whose shade or base is made of natural alabaster. It gives soft, atmospheric light at furniture height. By day it works as a decorative object, because every stone has its own pattern of veins.

Reading light or ambient light?

Alabaster diffuses light, so a stone table lamp mainly gives ambient light. For reading in bed, choose a brighter bulb in a warm colour or add a wall sconce with directional light.

A pair or a single lamp?

A matching pair either side of a bed, sofa or console brings symmetry and calm. A single lamp on a sideboard or shelf works as an accent, especially in the veined or brown variety.

How to choose the size of a table lamp

On a bedside table, the bottom of the shade should be roughly at chin height for someone sitting up in bed. On a sideboard, the lamp should not be wider than about a third of the furniture. These are approximate rules, best checked with a tape measure before you buy.

  • 1/3Roughly how much of the width of a sideboard or console the lamp can take.
  • PairTwo matching lamps bring order to a bed, sofa or console.
  • 2700 KWarm light for the evening. For reading, choose a brighter bulb of the same colour.

Questions about alabaster table lamps

Is an alabaster table lamp bright enough for reading?

For short reading, yes, with a brighter warm LED bulb. The stone diffuses the light, so for long reading add a wall sconce or a directional lamp.

Which table lamp for a bedside table?

One where the bottom of the shade is roughly at chin height for someone sitting up in bed. With two bedside tables, a matching pair works best.

How much does an alabaster table lamp cost?

From 192,00 €. Half of the models start below 400 €. Prices as of October 2026.

Does alabaster heat up from the bulb?

With LED light sources hardly at all, which is why we recommend LED only. Hot bulbs can change the tone of the stone over time.

Does a table lamp need installing?

No. Place it on the furniture and plug it into a socket.

Will each lamp look like the photo?

The shape, size and fittings, yes. The veining will always be slightly different, because every shade comes from a different part of the stone. It is a feature of natural alabaster, not a defect.
