What is an alabaster ceiling light?

It is a lamp mounted directly to the ceiling, with a shade made of natural stone. It does not hang down, so it suits rooms with low ceilings and places people walk under. Alabaster spreads the light evenly, without harsh shadows.

How to choose the diameter of a ceiling light

The same rule as for a chandelier: the room’s length plus width in metres, times 10, gives the approximate diameter in centimetres. In a long hallway, hang two or three smaller ceiling lights instead of one large one.

  • × 10Room length plus width in metres, times 10. A 3 × 4 m room: about 70 cm, or two smaller lights.
  • 30-40 cmApproximate diameter for a hallway, walk-in wardrobe or porch.
  • 50-60 cmApproximate diameter for a bedroom or a room of up to about 15 m².
  • 2.6 mBelow this ceiling height, a ceiling light usually works better than a chandelier.

Ceiling light or chandelier?

Choose a ceiling light when the ceiling is lower than about 2.6 m, or when people walk under the lamp. Keep chandeliers for taller rooms, where a lamp can hang down and become a feature.

One model, several sizes

Many of our ceiling lights come in several diameters, for example 30, 40, 50 and 60 cm. The same model in two sizes connects a hallway with a room and gives the interior a consistent look.

Where an alabaster ceiling light works

Bedroom

Calm general light with no lamp hanging over the bed. Add bedside lamps.

Hallway and entrance

One ceiling light in a small entrance hall, two or three in a long hallway.

Walk-in wardrobe

Even light on shelves and the mirror, with no shadows from hanging shades.

Living room with a low ceiling

A large ceiling light as the main light, plus wall sconces or a floor lamp.

The light source in a ceiling light

Ceiling lights are rarely taken down, so it is worth knowing what is inside. Details are on the product page.

G9
Small capsule bulbs, common in flat ceiling lights and clusters of globes.
E14 and E27
Classic sockets: easy to choose a bulb of any wattage and colour.
Integrated LED
A module built into the lamp, no bulb to replace. Covered by the 3-year warranty.

Questions about alabaster ceiling lights

What is the difference between a ceiling light and a chandelier?

A ceiling light sits flush to the ceiling, while a chandelier hangs on a cable or wire. A ceiling light is better for low rooms and walkways, a chandelier for tall interiors where the lamp should be a feature.

Which alabaster ceiling light for a bedroom?

For a bedroom of up to about 15 m², roughly a 50-60 cm ceiling light with warm LED, 2700-3000 K. Add bedside lamps or wall sconces by the bed.

How much does an alabaster ceiling light cost?

From 242,40 €. Half of the models start below 730 €. The price rises with the diameter and the number of shades. Prices as of October 2026.

Will an alabaster ceiling light give enough light?

In a small room, usually yes. In a larger one, treat it as general light and add wall sconces or a second ceiling light, because the stone diffuses and softens the light.

Can a ceiling light be ordered in another diameter?

Yes. Many models come in several diameters, and to order we can change the size, the stone variety and the finish of the metal parts. The lead time is agreed with the quote.

Can an alabaster ceiling light be installed in a bathroom?

Our alabaster lamps are designed for indoor use, and alabaster does not like moisture. Do not install them in the shower or bath zone. If you are planning a lamp for a well-ventilated bathroom, write to us before you buy and we will suggest a model.

Will each lamp look like the photo?

The shape, size and fittings, yes. The veining will always be slightly different, because every shade comes from a different part of the stone. It is a feature of natural alabaster, not a defect.

Not sure which model to choose?

Tell us about the room and the ceiling height. We will suggest a model, size and finish.
