Alabaster cone pendant light

Stone can look light when shaped into a wide cone that lets light through. In the Empoli model, the milky white alabaster sits alongside brushed copper, while the black cord traces a fine vertical line above the shade.

Why choose this light

Translucent alabaster becomes part of the lighting: when the light is switched on, it reveals the stone’s irregular pattern.
Choose the 60 or 80 cm version to suit the length of your tabletop; both are 25 cm wide, so the main difference is their span.
The fitting mounts on the ceiling and connects to a 230V supply.

Design and materials

The form widens towards the bottom, ending in a broad, open base through which the spherical light source is visible. Grey and cream veins run across the pale surface of the shade, subtle in places and more pronounced in others. Natural alabaster has its own individual pattern, so no two pieces will be identical. A small copper detail at the tip of the cone marks the transition between the stone and the black cord; the brushed metal finish contrasts with the irregular structure of the shade.

Light and comfort

The alabaster filters some of the light, illuminating its own veining, while the open underside allows light to fall directly downwards. This means that above the tabletop you see both the illuminated stone and the light source extending below its edge. A white shade does not mean a cool light colour - this is determined by the light source used, so check its colour temperature before purchasing if you are looking for warm lighting for relaxing in the evening. When installing it above a table, position the fitting so that the shade does not obscure the faces of people sitting opposite.

Where it fits

Above a rectangular dining table - the 60 and 80 cm long versions allow you to match the span of the fitting to the furniture, while the pale stone looks good alongside wood.
Above a kitchen island - the elongated configuration emphasises the line of the worktop, and the copper details can be paired with handles or taps in a similar shade.
In a minimalist living room, above a coffee table - the simple outline of the cone leaves room for the decorative pattern of the alabaster, without the elaborate form of a chandelier.
