A pale stone dome and metal chain recall traditional light fittings, but the compact size also allows placement beside a bed or above a small table. Cortona has a diameter of 20 cm, so it is best thought of as a light for a specific spot rather than broad illumination for an entire room. Above a longer island, you can repeat this shape at several points, leaving plenty of space between them.

Design and materials

The white dome is broken up by cream streaks and irregular tonal transitions, visible even when the light is switched off. The distinct chain links reinforce the traditional character of the design, rather than disappearing against the ceiling like a thin cable. Natural alabaster has a different pattern in every piece, so a group of fittings will share the same shape, but not the exact pattern of the stone.

Light and comfort

Illuminated alabaster gently diffuses the light, while its milky surface reveals variations in the stone’s pattern. A white shade does not mean cool light: the colour temperature depends on the replaceable light source you choose. For relaxing in the evening, look for a compatible warm-white bulb rather than expecting the stone itself to warm up cool light.
