How high should a marble pendant hang?

Above tables and islands, the shade bottom usually hangs 75-90 cm above the top. In walkways, leave at least about 210 cm above the floor. These are approximate values.

  • 75-90 cmFrom the table or island top to the bottom of the shade.
  • 60-75 cmDistance between the centres of lamps hung in a row.
  • 15 cmMinimum distance from the top edge to the centre of the outer lamp.
  • 210 cmMinimum lamp clearance in walkways.

How many lamps above an island?

Small marble shades look best in a group. Above an island up to about 180 cm, use two or three lamps; above a longer one, three or four, evenly spaced.

Beside the bed

Two small marble pendants beside the bed replace bedside lamps and free up table space. Hang them slightly above the eye level of someone sitting in bed.

Shape, size and fittings will match. Veins will differ because each element is cut from another piece of marble. This is a feature of natural stone, not a defect.
