Alabaster chandelier 115 cm long

A long copper beam with alabaster spheres spread along it - this form orders the light above the table instead of scattering it in all directions. The natural stone softens the glare into warmth, and each sphere has its own veining pattern, so no two pieces will be identical. At 115 cm long and 28 cm high, the fitting takes up little vertical space, while making a strong statement horizontally.

Design and materials

The beam is slim and horizontal, so it does not overwhelm the interior - suspension on a thin rod emphasises its shape. The alabaster spheres have a matt, slightly translucent surface: with the light off they look like stone spheres, not like lamps. The warm, golden-russet shade of the copper contrasts with the cooler white of the stone. Alabaster is a natural material, so the arrangement of veins and fine streaks on each sphere is different - the piece that reaches you will have its own pattern.

Light and comfort

Stone does not let light through like glass - it filters and softens it, so instead of sharp points above the table top you get an even glow. A warm colour around 2700 K completes this effect and removes the worry about cold light familiar from many modern fittings. The spheres shine widely, they do not dazzle those sitting at the table, while clearly lighting the surface below them. With a length like this, the lower edge of the fitting should hang around 75-85 cm above the table top - at that height nothing blocks the view and nobody looks directly into the source.
