Alabaster cone wall light

In this wall light, the stone takes up little space but sets the tone for the entire design. The alabaster cone sits on a slender, deeply curved arm, leaving plenty of open space beneath the pale shade. Certaldo draws on classic candle-style lights, but replaces elaborate ornamentation with a simple metal curve and the pattern of the stone.

Design and materials

The shade tapers towards the top, resembling a traditional lampshade, but has a stone surface with visible veining instead of fabric. The copper arm extends below the round wall mount, forming an elongated U-shaped curve. A copper, black or satin nickel finish changes the contrast with the white alabaster without altering the silhouette. The pattern of the natural stone differs in each piece, so two fittings hung side by side will share the same shape but have different veining details.

Light and comfort

Light passing through the alabaster brings out its veining and creates a soft glow around the shade. The white stone does not mean a cool light colour: you choose this with the replaceable light source. For relaxing in the evening, look for a compatible warm white bulb, for example 2700 K. Beside a bed, plan the mounting height so that you do not look directly into the shade opening when reclining.
